Before our 3rd graders launch their fraction unit, they are reviewing the basic fractions of a set they learned in 2nd grade with bear manipulatives they haven't used for a couple years. While using this nostalgic manipulative, they are practicing how to correctly say fractions and match them to their meaning. From a fraction of a set, they will go to working on fractions of a whole which is a much harder concept as it is more abstract thinking and recognition. (1/3)
